EYFS

Sessions are developed to support EYFS and Key stage 1.

Topics include; Anatomy, emotions, exploring the senses, across the continents, the jungle, space & the yoga alphabet.

Each 45 minute session will include a combination of group discussions, yoga and mindful activities that reflect the theme of the session.

How we support communication, language & literacy:

  • Immersive storytelling and fun fact giving throughout the sessions.
  • Sessions like alphabet yoga focus on phonics and creating simple words through yoga poses.
  • All sessions include group discussions and emotional check ins, encouraging children to explore language and feelings simultaneously.
  • Turn taking, listening and speaking all encouraged at points within the session.

How we support personal, social & emotional development:

  • All sessions provide a safe space that encourages sharing and discussion.
  • Yoga pledge and session boundaries encourage positive attitute and behaviour.
  • Discussions of emotions and opportunities to create space for healthy habits and quiet moments to reflect.

How we support knowledge & understanding:

  • Themes are factual and bring in relevant knowledge and facts.
  • When using new language, time is made to explain the meaning properly as to teach the children rather than leave them feeling confused.
  • Mindful activities teach reflection and plant seeds that nurture self care and awareness as a child develops.

How we support maths:

  • Counting breaths. In some sessions counting up or down in different multiples.
  • Looking at facts and figures relevant to the theme (i.e. how many launched rockets there have been and so on).
  • Look at natural patterns in nature.

How we support expressive arts & design:

  • Mindful activities often involve crafting and creating.
  • Yoga movement and asanas (poses).

How we support physical development:

  • Sun salutation
  • Dance
  • Yoga asanas

Key stages 1 & 2

These sessions support PSHE targets and promote social and emotional learning.

Our courses for 5-11 year olds introduces the topic of emotional regulation through yoga, group activities and discussions, games and mindfulness.

We look primarily at our emotions and how they manifest in our mind and body and use activities that encourage learners to start understanding the link between emotions and behaviours.

We can then start to look at how we can use yoga and mindful practices to help regulate our emotions and which techniques are effective in which scenarios.

Our sessions also support the national curriculum through written and creative activities, counting breaths and the physical practice of yoga asanas.

Key stages 3 - 5

These sessions support PSHE targets and promote social and emotional learning.

These sessions also focus on emotional regulation and use yoga, group discussions and meditative practices that encourage self reflection and understanding.

This course encourages learners to take an introspective approach and begin to learn about their own personal triggers and behaviours. We use focused activities that help learners understand how things like their routine, diet and outlook can impact their emotional responses and how we can begin to create healthy, consistent habits that aid emotional regulation and positive mental health.

We use yoga and meditative practices to demonstrate how we can regulate our nervous system and transition from 'fight/flight/freeze/fawn' into homeostasis and discuss the impact that breathwork and movement can have on us both physically and psychologically.

Our sessions also support the national curriculum through written and creative activities, counting breaths and the physical practice of yoga asanas.

SEN & SEMH

These sessions follow the same themes as outlined above but have a more relaxed structure and adapted yoga poses to suit the needs of the learners.
